Kouryaku Games - 1999 Forever!

WTF is Kouryaku Games? Back in 1999, I was 15 years old. My family had just got our first computer, or atleast our first computer with the internet. We had a hand-me-down DOS beast before that, but this was a fancy brand spankin' new PC with a 56k Modem! That very night I created my first webpage. It was on one of those free hosts of the era, Lycos or Angelfire or Tripod, I don't quite remember. It was just one of those 'I exist! This proves it!' type of home pages. I have been a video game player for as long as I remember. My older half-brother had an NES, and when he came to our house he brought it with him. I was 4 years old when my parents bought my sister and I a NES for Christmas. Not only do I not remember a time in my life when I didn't play games, but I don't remember a time in my life when I didn't want to make games. Shortly after getting the computer, I discovered the Klik Fangame community, with Freakzone! and Biebersoft and others. I downloaded the games, played the hell outta them, and discovered they were made with these tools called 'Klik n Play' and 'The Games Factory.' I promptly Asked Jeeves just what the hell those things were. I got Klik n Play and started making some crappy minigames. Then I of course immediately started my own 'company.' I called it Kouryaku. It was Kouryaku Entertainment, then Kouryaku Software, then probably something else. I made a page on Homestead.com, joined the Freakzone! message board, and became friends with Sam Beddoes of Freakzone. I had big plans to make awesome fangames of my favorite old Nintendo games. I never released any of them, except a demo of 'Super Mario Adventure.' I had a bunch of planned projects, and I did do some work on several of them. They are all lost to the great Hard Drive Landfill in the sky. Sam Beddoes and others in that Klik Fangame community went on to make really awesome, cool stuff. Freakzone Games has released the cult-classic Manos: Hands of Fate game, and the successful Angry Video Game Nerd: The Game. I went on to become a drug addict, and eventually wound up in prison. I got sober, I got out, and I got back in touch with some of my old fangame homies from back in the day. I started making games again, and have released a handful under the name Ragnar Random. Then I got nostalgic and decided to try and reclaim my youth by making this tribute to my old self.
